The Fluid Innovation Technology Unit (FITU) is the technology asset creation engine of NewSemi Technology. NewSemi has deep roots in the semiconductor and advanced manufacturing sectors, with a cross-industry client network focused on solving real problems at the industrial frontier.

We identify thermal-fluid physics gaps with scalable potential, and convert them into patent portfolios and startup ventures.

Identify

  • Starting from first principles, we systematically scan real industrial scenarios to locate technology gaps with scalable potential. At this stage, we ask only one question: is this problem worth solving?


Productize

  • Once a direction is confirmed, we build a patent family around the core technical insight and establish a lean startup structure. Speed and capital efficiency are the discipline of this phase.

Monetize

  • Depending on the technical characteristics and market conditions, we select the most appropriate exit path — patent licensing, startup sale, or strategic acquisition. Every case exits differently, but the evaluation criteria remain consistent.


 How We Work

01 — Topic Selection & Global Patent Search
We conduct a systematic scan of existing global technologies and patent landscapes to identify underexplored technology gaps within a defined domain.

02 — Key Technology Research
Within confirmed technology gaps, we identify critical parameters that have yet to reach their thermal-fluid physical performance limits, and develop design approaches capable of significantly improving those parameters. We are not looking for incremental optimization — we are looking for genuinely untapped improvement space at the physics level.

03 — Patent Drafting & Filing
We construct a patent family around the core technical insight and submit the applications. Once in examination, the process of communication, response, and review typically spans 12 to 18 months.

04 — Product-Specific Design
From the pending patent family, we select the commercially most promising items and translate the patent content into manufacturable and scalable device or component designs.

05 — Asset Monetization
IP licensing or strategic acquisition: selling patents, design concepts, engineering drawings, experimental data — we select the path best suited to the technology's characteristics and market conditions to convert intellectual assets into tangible commercial value.
